Year 1's World Book Day 2020 costumes!

World Book Day! The children all looked brilliant in their costumes and took part in fun activites through the day! Thank you if you were able to join us in the afternoon to share in stories and activites.

Layers of the rainforest - take a look at our beautiful creations to show the layers of the rainforest and some of the animals that live their!

WOW, take a look at some of our 'wishing tales' ! We did some brilliant descriptive writing and Mrs Hibbert is very proud of us all!

We have been getting creative with the maths resources by exploring numbers to 20 using lots of different visual representations. We even put our knwoledge of Tens and Ones to good use too!

We have been busy writing our own 'wishing tale' stories based on the book 'Boa's Bad Birthday'. We all did a super job!

Designing, making and evaluating a healthy, nutritious and fresh salad bowl! Yummy!

2-D and 3-D shapes - This week we have been naming, describing and sorting 2-D and 3-D shapes. What shapes can you see at home?

We started out learning on 'healthy eating' this week! We began by discussing what we know about healthy eating then we sorted foods into their different groups - carbohydrates, protein, oils and spreads, fruit and vegetables, dairy and foods high in fat, salt and sugar. We did a brillaint job!

Finding the difference - we have ben using our knowledge of subtraction to 'find the difference' between two numbers

Boa's Bad Birthday (English text) - We made party hats and had a fun party with music and party games for Boa!

Topic Hook! We went on an an explorer hunt to look for some aimals found in the Amazon rainforest! We made explorer badges and took our clipboards with us. What animals did we find?

Making Ten! We have been practising our number bonds to 10 - do you know the numbers that go togother to make 10? e.g. 1 + 9 = 10

Children in Need! As part of our instruction writing for English, we baked and decorated biscuits to sell as part of the 'Bake Off' at school!
