Little Wandle Phonics
At South Brent Primary School we use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised to teach phonics and early reading. Children in Foundation and Year One have daily, whole class phonics sessions in which they are taught specific phonemes or sounds. This learning is then reinforced in their group reading sessions which take place twice a week. These reading sessions help the children to develop their fluency, the expression they use when they read and their comprehension or understanding of the texts. The children then take home their books to share with their families over the weekend.
